EU Directive 2014/66 on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals in the framework of an intra-corporate transfer – June 6, 2014

The European parliament and the Council of the EU adopted the Directive 2014/66 which provides for an EU wide immigration status suited to posting of assignees from affiliates located outside the EU to affiliates within EU. The directive provides for simplified and transparent processing for assignees and their family members, and facilitates intra-EU mobility. Member States (except UK, Ireland and Denmark who opted out) must transpose this directive into national law by 29 November 2016.

A judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of 12 March 2014 aligns the status of the spouse or partner of a French national with that of a family member of an EU citizen when back in France after the couple’s effective movement1 from another member state.

Attractiveness measures – March 19, 2014

François Hollande has introduced a series of measures to enhance the attractiveness of France on February 17 at the “Strategic Council for Attractiveness “. Those measures, designed primarily to attract foreign capital also introduce advances in immigration policy to attract international talents, strengthen the status of foreign students in France and address social issues.
